Ben Ainslie has become the most decorated Olympic sailor in history after retaining his Olympic Finn title, securing Team GB’s second Sailing medal of the day after Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson had earlier won silver in the men’s star.

Ainslie, who has now struck gold at four successive Olympic games, in addition to a silver medal in Atlanta 1996, held off the challenge of Denmark’s Jonas Hogh-Christensen in the final medal race to the delight of the crowds in Weymouth and Portland.
