England Under 21 football manager Stuart Pearce joined the 12 emerging high performance coaches at the sixth workshop of UK Sport’s 2010-11 Elite Coaching Apprenticeship Programme (ECAP) to discuss leadership style.
Pearce has risen through the coaching ranks since retiring as a player, starting out as an assistant coach and plying his trade as a club manager, before taking up the post of England U21 manager in 2007. While his experience is vast, Pearce was keen to learn from the ECAP coaches, as well as share his knowledge with them.
Speaking to UK Sport before the session, the former England international discussed the importance of developing home grown British coaches and how the figures he has worked alongside have shaped his career.
